Blogging Success

Blogging is hot. It’s BEEN hot for quite awhile now. People are starting new blogs every day. Actually, hundreds – if not thousands (or more!) start new blogs every day. However not very many of them will actually make it big. Sometimes blogging can be a bit of a headache when you’re starting out, but it should never be complicated. It’s very easy to over complicate things and get in over your head, but if you take a step back and look at – pretty much any – successful blog, you’ll notice a few constants.

Let’s break it down into some simple words! If you want to have a successful blog, pay heed traveler, and pull up a chair!

How To Achieve Blogging Success

I’ve run across hundreds of blogs that are just garbage. A lot of fluff, a lot of smoke and mirrors, a lot of hype… and not much else. Hopefully what I’ll be typing out here will make more sense than those other guys.

In a nutshell, keep it simple. Okay… that’s it! Thanks for reading, and see you next time!… Okay, I’m kidding. Keep reading. I’ll elaborate some more below.

Prepare Accordingly

There’s a ton of platforms out there that make it easy to get started blogging pretty quickly. While I don’t hate them nor do I think they’re terrible, you would do a lot better (and you’ll look more professional) to spend a little cash to get started. What I mean by that is this:

Purchase a Domain name and Web Host – Really, it’s not that expensive to do this. Generally speaking, a domain name is $12-$15 and Web Hosting is around $5 – $15 per month. You don’t have to go all out, get the .com and the small hosting package for a few bucks and you’re in there! In the long run, this will give you MUCH more control over your stuff.

Get yer brand!

You’ve got the domain name now so you’re professional. You also want to look the part too. Do some digging around and find a nice looking blog theme (or hire me) and set it up. Really think about it too. Keep it simple here too… you want something that matches who YOU are. Think about your logo and colors as well (or again, hire me).

Write a lot!

This should be a no brainer. If you’re not writing, you’re not blogging (Duh…) So you’ve gotta write…and you’ve got to write a lot. Don’t write a ton of fluff for no reason, still try to write good, solid, quality content.

Write Quality

This is another one that should be easy to guess. You obviously want quality content, so while you’re focusing on writing lots of content, do your best to write quality blog posts. Even though this is a simple one, it may not always be easy. Practice by writing lots of content and quality will come.

Stand Out

The Internet is huge. There’s already a lot of content on there, and none of it is original anymore. Nothing you write will be original, so you’ve got to find a way to be unique in some way and stand out. You’re a snowflake, remember that – and embrace it!

Be Persistent

I can’t stress this enough. You have to – HAVE TO be persistent. You’ve got to write content and keep writing content. Do your best to keep putting out content on a regular basis. This is super huge. People will get bored of your blog if it has dry spells.

Be Patient

Growing a successful blog takes some time. It definitely won’t happen overnight. You’ve got to be patient and wait it out as you work on your product. It might get boring for awhile, it might seem like you’re not making progress, you might not be getting visitors. But don’t lose hope and be patient. Eventually, if you keep sticking to the basics it will eventually start to pay off.

Remember, if you want a successful blog, it has to be a long term thing. You’ll have tons of ups and downs but do your best to keep your head up and your nose to the grind stone. Your blog won’t be perfect, but without a doubt it will improve as you keep at it. Practice makes perfect, as the saying goes.
